| Description: |
Saint John Energy (“SJE”) is soliciting proposals for the supply of controllers (“Controllers”) for electric water heater tanks under a supply contract (“Supply Contract”) with one or more suppliers (“Suppliers”). This will also include any associated hardware and software. As part of SJE’s Smart Grid Project (https://www.sjenergy.com/pages/smart-grid), SJE intends to deploy 2,000 smart water heater controllers into its fleet of residential water heaters. The controllers must integrate with SJE’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (“DERMS”) in the effort to reduce overall system demand during peak load times and provide improved customer engagement. SJE’s DERMS system is a critical control system that is part of SJE’s Smart Control Center (“SCC”). Under the Contract, the successful Supplier will be responsible for the production, delivery, warranty coverage, and technical support of the Controllers, and any provided software (“Software”). SJE currently offers a wide range of water heater models at various monthly rates, along with reliable service to its customers (www.sjenergy.com/pages/water-heater-rentals). SJE currently has a fleet of over 21,000 water heaters in Saint John using 3,500 W and 4,500 W elements, 40-gallon and 60-gallon tank sizes, as well as several smart water heaters that are controlled through connection to SJE’s DERMS. As an option, SJE will consider the provision of an integrated product or solution (“Bundled Unit”) where the Supplier would provide Controllers, Software, and an associated water heater (either as a fully integrated product, or a joint supply with a water heater supplier). **Intent to Respond forms are due July 20th, 2020 at 3 p.m. submitted to supplyandservices@sjenergy.com |
